The 2024 Hyundai Sonata

A New and Futuristic Look for The Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai will be adding some attitude to the family-sedan segment in 2024. The Sonata has received a considerable makeover, differentiating its looks from the outgoing Sonata, released in 2020. The new look is sleek and futuristic and has been switched up inside and out.

The 2024 Sonata’s striking new exterior exhibits updated front and rear bumpers, headlights, tail lights, and a futuristic new display of running lights that span the width of the front bumper. Hyundai says this more aggressive styling expresses their concept of “The Sportiness.”

The Sonata retains its current powertrains, with a 2.5L Inline-4, gas base engine with 191-hp at 6100 rpm, 181 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, with an 8-speed transmission and front-wheel drive. Other options as seen prior from Hyundai include a 180-hp turbocharged inline-4, and an N Line model with a 290-hp turbo four. The 195-hp Sonata Hybrid will continue to present large numbers in fuel economy.

More exterior changes include a longer hood, a widened, low-slung front end and a wide, bold grille with an air intake design. The sporty sedan also features a fastback roofline with a panoramic sunroof.

The rear bumper cover and tail lights have also gotten a sleek redesign. The Sonata’s taillights now incorporate a similar light strip to that on the front and the lower fascia presents a more aggressive look than before.

While the maintained power and fuel economy and stunning exterior updates are certainly something to note, the most substantial updates to the 2024 Sonata took place inside the vehicle.

Potentially the most impressive new feature in the 2024 Sonata is the grouping of two 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreens fitted to a single curved display mount. One screen is designed specifically for the driver, housing the digital speedometer and tachometer, and the other is a touch screen for infotainment controls.

Practical changes to the interior include the gear selector moving from the center console to a knob sprouting from the steering column. This has allowed more cupholder and storage space, as well as an additional palm rest, giving the driver more room.

The 2024 Sonata will be equipped with Over-The-Air (OTA) update capability. This means that it will be able to receive software updates and improvements straight from Hyundai through wireless means.

Another convenient tech upgrade is the “Digital Key 2” which allows you to lock and unlock the vehicle from a smartphone or smartwatch. Neatly paired with the grand infotainment display is a new 12-speaker Bose stereo.

The SmartSense package of driver-assistance and safety features is standard and includes automatic high-beam assist; adaptive cruise control; emergency braking; a driver-attention warning that can sense distracted or drowsy driving; standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist; and available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

That’s not all. The 2024 Sonata will also have exit assist, which will prevent passengers from opening a door into oncoming traffic or a cyclist; rear occupant alert, which will notify the driver if a child or pet is left unattended in the vehicle; and a fitting, futuristic update that allows the driver to remotely control the vehicle and have it reverse into or pull out of tight parking spaces. You can park your vehicle without even being in it.

In summary, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata is a game-changer in the family sedan market with its futuristic and sporty exterior design, improved infotainment system, and advanced safety features. With these intuitive and ambitious advancements, it’s clear that Hyundai is committed to delivering a top-notch driving experience with the 2024 Sonata.
